There’s no cover charge, just the UKC levy. In order for Ed to make reservations, please register by 6.00 pm on the Thursday before by calling 905-820-5145 or emailing edthurygill@sympatico.ca. It’s recommended that emails include a contact phone number in case of last-minute changes. The band doesn’t start until 4.00 but there’s some uncertainty about being able to make reservations so it’s best to be there by 3.45 in order to sit together. Being earlier is even better.

AN EVENING WITH A BLUE WHALE at the ROM

Join Ann for a Friday evening at the ROM. The ginormous Blue Whale is a “must see” both for its size and the story of the whole challenge to clean, transport and reconstruct it. Also other fascinating exhibitions on at the time. We’ll repair to a local watering hole afterwards. Walk
WALK ALONG HUMBER RIVER

Join Dorothy and Joan for a brisk walk along the Humber River Trail from James Gardens to the Old Mill and then to 2401 Bloor Street West, for lunch at Dark Horse restaurant. This walk is divided into 2 segments – the first starts at James Gardens and the second starts at the Old Mill subway station. For the James Gardens start, meet at 10:30 near the rear of the parking lot (free parking) where the walking path commences. For the Old Mill start, meet in front of the Old Mill subway station at 11:45 or by the free parking lot on the east side of the bridge. The parking lot that is closest to the Old Mill is a pay parking lot. Wear appropriate walking shoes; bring water, sun screen, and a hat. $5 UKC levy applies. For beginners to euchre, lessons will be provided, plus basic instructions can be e-mailed to you ahead of time. This is a fantastic and fun game for keeping the brain cells active! Cost is $5 UKC levy. MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE - there is a limit to the number of participants for this event. Please sign up early, as last day to reserve your spot is Sun Apr 9 by 6 pm. Join Ann to see a play about married doctors who employ a Brazilian housekeeper more interested in creating the prefect joke than in cleaning. This play is a quirky look at class, comedy and the nature of love giving new meaning to the phrase “I almost died laughing.” Ann says, “sounds fun – let’s give it a try.” We’ll meet at the theatre at 7.45 pm to buy our tickets which are two for $10 on Thursdays + $5 UK levy. The York Jazz Ensemble (www.yje.ca) is one of Toronto's top nine-piece Swing and Jazz bands starring singer George Westerholm. The music will be mostly big band standards: jazz, blues, rock and ballads. Just listen to the music or ask someone to join you on the dance floor. Join Ian and experience the nine-hole Braeben Academy Par 3 golf course on a windy hilltop in Mississauga, 5700 Terry Fox Way; enter 500 yards SOUTH of Matheson. The course is built to the model of the Scottish Highlands and is a great beginner and intermediate course. Green fees are $21 per person and $15 (approx.) for seniors (plus GST). Pull carts and clubs are available to rent. After the golf, we will travel to Applebees at Mavis/Matheson for a drink and lunch. Register one week in advance. UK CONNEXION GOLF TOURNAMENT

Join Dorothy and Joan at Scarlett Woods Executive Golf Course for 18 holes of golf. You don’t have to be an expert. All welcome! Bring your single friends! We will be playing ‘BEST DRIVE’, meaning that for the drive only, on holes greater than 150 yards, players pick up their balls and place them in line with the ball of the player who has the best drive. There will be prizes for ‘CLOSEST TO THE HOLE’ and ‘LONGEST DRIVE’ at designated holes. There is a maximum of one prize per golfer. Cost: green fees of $29 for seniors and $41 for adults plus $5 UKC levy; rentals available: clubs $20 and power carts $30 for seniors, $32 for adults (prices subject to change). Everyone is welcome and since NO reservations are needed, just show up; UKC levy of $5 or UKC coupon will apply. This will be the ’19th hole’ for many of the afternoon golfers, with no levy payable. The WILD GOOSE Bar & Grill is located at 5395 Eglinton Ave. W, just west of Renforth Drive. From Scarlett Woods golf course, go west on Eglinton and about 10 minutes later just after passing the lights at Renforth, you will see the restaurant in the plaza on the south (left side).
