SEVEN44 LIVE BAND SWING/JAZZ & DANCING
Eglinton / Mt. Pleasant
Join Marilyn at Club Seven44 (www.seven44.com) 744 Mount Pleasant, just south of Eglinton and enjoy good music with good company, good food and a good selection of drinks. The York Jazz Ensemble (www.yje.ca) is one of Toronto's top nine-piece Swing and Jazz bands starring singer George Westerholm. The music will be mostly big band standards: jazz, blues, rock and ballads. Just listen to the music or ask someone to join you on the dance floor. There is an excellent selection of deli/pub style food, drink choices and a friendly staff. In addition to the $5 UKC levy, there is a $10 cover charge when this band is playing. Join Mary for Bowling at 12 noon (no experience necessary). Rates are $5.49/person per game plus $4.19 for shoes + taxes, also $5 levy. Reservations cannot be made so please arrive early to ensure we get lanes when doors open at 12 noon. This is 10 pin bowling and you can pick balls from 8 to 15 lbs. when you enter the bowling alley. Brunswick Zone 2561 Stanfield Road on the south side off of Dundas (just east of Tomken Rd). If you are not an early riser, you can join us for 2 pm reserved seating lunch at Astoria Shish Kebob House,1970 Dundas St East, south side, east of Dixie (near Starskys) where they have great greek food and nice atmosphere. For beginners to euchre, lessons will be provided, plus basic instructions can be e-mailed to you ahead of time. This is a fantastic and fun game for keeping the brain cells active! Cost is $5 UKC levy. MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE - there is a limit to the number of participants for this event. Please sign up early, as last day to reserve your spot is Sunday March 12th by 6 pm.   This event has been very popular. Due to popularity of St. Patrick’s Day celebration, The Brogue Inn, 136 Lakeshore Rd E (northwest corner of Lakeshore and Hurontario) does not take reservations so it is first come, first served. Doors open at 11 am and the pub is usually full by 1 pm. Mary will be there by 11:30 am to hopefully get some seats for lunch. Entertainment goes on all day and night so you and your friends are welcome to drop in at any time (just let them know about the$5 levy). More information to come closer to the date. At the meeting, we will elect our five DECISION-MAKING OFFICERS for the coming year: President, Treasurer, Events Director, Webmaster and Membership/Newsletter Director. And we select our ADVISORY OFFICERS: Assistant Membership Director, Phone Inquiry Directors, Past Event Reviews Director, Recording Secretary, and Hot-line Director. Join Ed at The Leaside Pub, 190 Laird Drive, three blocks south of Eglinton (56 bus). Enjoy live jazz with good company and a wide selection of food and drinks. There’s no cover charge, just the UKC levy. In order for Ed to make reservations, please register by 6.00 pm on the Thursday before by calling 905-820-5145 or emailing edthurygill@sympatico.ca. It’s recommended that emails include a contact phone number in case of last-minute changes. The band doesn’t start until 4.00 but there’s some uncertainty about being able to make reservations so it’s best to be there by 3.45 in order to sit together. Being earlier is even better.
