UK CONNEXION GOLF TOURNAMENT

Join Dorothy and Joan at Scarlett Woods Executive Golf Course for 18 holes of golf. You don’t have to be an expert. All welcome! Bring your single friends! We will be playing ‘BEST DRIVE’, meaning that for the drive only, on holes greater than 150 yards, players pick up their balls and place them in line with the ball of the player who has the best drive. There will be prizes for ‘CLOSEST TO THE HOLE’ and ‘LONGEST DRIVE’ at designated holes. There is a maximum of one prize per golfer. Cost: green fees of $29 for seniors and $41 for adults plus $5 UKC levy; rentals available: clubs $20 and power carts $30 for seniors, $32 for adults (prices subject to change). Everyone is welcome and since NO reservations are needed, just show up; UKC levy of $5 or UKC coupon will apply. This will be the ’19th hole’ for many of the afternoon golfers, with no levy payable. The WILD GOOSE Bar & Grill is located at 5395 Eglinton Ave. W, just west of Renforth Drive. From Scarlett Woods golf course, go west on Eglinton and about 10 minutes later just after passing the lights at Renforth, you will see the restaurant in the plaza on the south (left side). A weekend on a lake teeming with fish and eligible women - what’s not to like for brothers Owen and Lee Melville? Find out in The Melville Boys, a poignant comedy by Norm Foster. Location 2190E Bloor Street West (downstairs on the north side) across the street from No Frills, just east of Runnymede subway. There is street parking on Bloor and side streets. A municipal parking lot is located behind the theatre. Join Mary and Arnold for a Spring hike of about 2.5 hours in the beautiful wooded Terra Cotta hills. Meet at 11 am in the east parking lot of the Terra Cotta Inn pub. We will then car pool to the trail head. Expect a steady climb for about half an hour and then a generally level trail until we descend, to have lunch at the Terra Cotta Inn. Drive West on 401 to Mississauga Road, then North to King Street. Turn West on King Street and follow the scenic road to the parking lot of the Inn. (or Google your best way from your location). This walk is divided into 2 segments – the first starts at James Gardens and the second starts at the Old Mill subway station. For the James Gardens start, meet at 10:30 near the rear of the parking lot (free parking) where the walking path commences. For the Old Mill start, meet in front of the Old Mill subway station at 11:45 or by the free parking lot on the east side of the bridge. The parking lot that is closest to the Old Mill is a pay parking lot. Wear appropriate walking shoes; bring water, sun screen, and a hat. $5 UKC levy applies. Let's celebrate our 30th anniversary! Thirty years ago, on Sunday April 26, 1987, 47 singles, who had responded to an ad placed in the Toronto Star since January of that year, attended a catered brunch at John's pad on the lake. More history of this first UKC event is on page 6. Come out and meet four of those original members. We mingle from 11:30 am until about 1 pm, when there will be a pot-luck lunch. Coffee & tea, mixes & ice provided. BYOB. Bring lawn chair if you don’t like hard seats. This party at the second most southerly lakefront home in Metro Toronto is located near Hwy 427 (Browns Line) and Lakeshore Blvd. - just 7 minutes walk from the Queen streetcar, Mississauga & TTC buses, and the GO train. From Scarlett Woods golf course, go west on Eglinton and about 10 minutes later just after passing the lights at Renforth, you will see the restaurant in the plaza on the south (left side).
