Get acquainted with the controversial “Crystal” at the ROM - our new museum is world class and vast; the new displays are stunning and far more extensive than before - they've brought masses of exhibits “out from the closet.” We can't possibly cover it in one evening but we can get an overview - Ann guarantees you'll be impressed! The Indian and Eskimo exhibits are amazing; there's a stunning Paperweight exhibit and by December the Crystal should be fully open with apparently masses of new Canadian exhibits. Admission is only $10 on Fridays. Meet Ann at 7 pm inside the entrance to the Crystal on Bloor Street (Bloor and Avenue Road, SW corner) -- she will have a UK Connexion sign. Our most important event of the year! It determines our future. At the meeting, we will elect our six DECISION-MAKING OFFICERS for the coming year: PRESIDENT, TREASURER, EVENTS DIRECTOR, NEWSLETTER EDITOR, MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR, and PHONE COMMITTEE DIRECTOR. Please give your nominations to our President Ron, 416-636-3727.

We will also select the ADVISORY OFFICERS. These positions which will be available or up for renewal are: ASSISTANT EVENTS DIRECTOR, HOT-LINE DIRECTOR, PHONE INQUIRY DIRECTORS, RECORDING SECRETARY, WELCOMING HOST DIRECTOR, and PAST EVENTS REVIEWS DIRECTOR. And, you can also volunteer to organize an event in April, May, or June.

Join us at the SQUIRE & FIRKIN for libations and mingling followed by a "15% off" dinner if 15 or more people attend. Arrive early to mingle, chat, drink and enjoy the free snack platters provided from about 6 pm to 7:15 pm when we sit down for dinner. A minimum food order of $10 is needed but several scrumptious entrees cost under $13. This event is highly recommended for new members. Join Ming for Dim Sum in the huge and elegant Sun Sun Chinese Restaurant in the Mississauga Chinese Centre, 888 Dundas St. E, Mississauga - through the ornate Chinese archway off Dundas, just east of Cawthra on the south side. Free parking. Enjoy the exotic taste of an authentic Chinese brunch. We will share a variety of delicious dishes that are circulated in the restaurant, and fragrant Jasmine or Oolong tea. (It is best not to eat breakfast this morning.) Individual bills are not possible at this event, so please be prepared to pay your share of the total. In November, we paid only $10.50 each including gratuity plus the $5 levy. After the feast we can shop at the Asian supermarket where you can buy seafood and groceries at a fraction of the normal cost! Space is limited to 12 people, first-come, first-served. This is the storied Irish Rovers pub, a little piece of Ireland in stuffy Toronto with good food and inexpensive brew. No reservation required.
