If you’re the type of person that believes Matisse is overrated and Chagal is overpriced, then it's time to step forward and give free rein to the artistic you. Join Andrew for a Mixed Media Abstract Workshop for 8 attendees at the Gallery, Streetsville (20 Thomas St., Mississauga). This new 'Group of Seven Plus One' will be led by a Professional Artist in a 90-minute workshop from which each participant will turn a blank 14" x 18" canvas into a testament to your individual artistic brilliance. Cost is $50+GST per person and the UKC levy. Afterwards we will retire to the nearby Irish Pub since it's universally acknowledged that creating a masterpiece is thirsty work. All materials plus tea, coffee and cookies provided. When Greg asks Philip for Ginny's hand in marriage, he fails to realize that the relationship between Philip and his intended is not one of parent and offspring but rather of "late summer and early spring". Confusion reigns in this riotous comedy of mistaken identities. After the play, we will go to a nearby café or pub for refreshments. By TTC, exit at Runnymede walk to the north side of Bloor – look for the theatre name and go down stairs to lower level. Create your own stir-fry by filling your plate from the fresh selections, then choose your meat, poultry, fish, seafood, or combination, then your sauce and give your plate to the cook. Help yourself to salad and bread and your cooked food will be delivered to your table. Ice cream or sorbet is also included. The full meal price ranges from $9.99 to $13.99 for orders placed before 5 pm, which qualify for the Early Bird discount. After 5 pm, pay $10.99 to $16.99. This is a popular, unique venue and there is often a line-up even for those with reservations, so you will need to be on time. May 30 Fri. 7 pm, DARWIN – The Evolution Revolution at the ROM
Discover the extraordinary story of Charles Darwin, the man who unleashed the evolution revolution. Trace his five-year voyage aboard the HMS Beagle that brought him to the Galapagos Islands, and discover some of the unique animals he encountered. Walk through his historic study. Intimate letters, photographs and personal artifacts give insight into aspects of Darwin’s life that are rarely seen. On Fridays, admission is only $10 ($8.50 for seniors). Join Ellen for mingling and supper at the ELEPHANT & CASTLE, 212 King St W. Free snack platters provided; plus 15% off the menu prices as long as 20 or more attend. We meet and mingle in the pool table area and then sit down for pub grub in a reserved area for shepherd's pie, fish & chips, bangers & mash but the menu also includes Thai chicken salad, grilled fish, pastas and a superb lamb curry. Entrees: $9.00 - $15.00. Afterwards, those who wish can play pool – only $2 per game! The Elephant & Castle is located directly across from Roy Thompson Hall - just steps away from St. Andrew subway. For those of you who are close to the GO train it is a relaxing ten minute walk from Union Station and parking is free at GO stations. New members are very welcome. June 7 Sat. 3:30 pm, CHICK'N'DELI - CLIMAX JAZZ BAND, Eglinton/Mt Pleasant
Unwind on a lazy weekend afternoon listening and dancing to the beautiful sounds of the regular matinee house jazz group from 4 until 7 p.m. These are all mature musicians who love nothing better than providing we punters with an eclectic mix of our old favourite jazz numbers. Enjoy the ambiance of the newly revamped non-smoking lounge area. Indulge yourself with a great selection of drinks, and of course the famous chicken wings and other fine food offerings at reasonable prices. If you wish, stay later into the evening and sample the live music entertainment group hitting the stage at approximately 9 p.m. Both events have no cover charge except for the UKC $5 levy. June 8 Sun. 1:30 pm, TORONTO ISLANDS HIKE
Enjoy a Sunday hike through the spectacular 550 acres of Toronto Island parks. We will meet half an hour ahead just outside the ferry docks located at Bay Street and Queen's Quay W. in order to board the 2 pm ferry to Wards Island. From Union Station you can catch the 509 Harbourfront or 510 Spadina streetcar south to the Bay/Queen's Quay stop. The ferry costs $6.00 return ($3.50 for seniors). After exploring the islands from Wards to Hanlan's Point and back to Centre Island, we can go to Wally Magoos at 245 Queens Quay W. for drinks and/or a meal. June 14 Sat. 11:30 am, UK CONNEXION GOLF TOURNAMENT
Join us at Scarlett Woods executive course at Jane/Eglinton. You don’t have to be an expert. All welcome! Rentals available. We will be playing " BEST DRIVE ". This means that for the drive only, players pick up their balls and place them in line with the ball of the player who has the best drive. For the "19th hole", we will repair for refreshments to the WILD GOOSE Bar & Grill, 5395 Eglinton Ave. W. Drive west on Eglinton. About 8 minutes later, just after passing the lights at Renforth, you will see the restaurant in the plaza on the south side. Bring your single friends. Cost: green fees of $36 ($25 for seniors) plus $5 UKC levy. IMPORTANT: As tee-times have to be booked in advance, make sure you call Ian at 905-337-3990 by Sunday June 8. If you are not golfing, you are welcome to join us for the afterglow at the restaurant, but please let Ian know.

Create your own stir-fry by filling your plate from the fresh selections, then choose your meat, poultry, fish, seafood, or combination, then your sauce and give your plate to the cook. Help yourself to salad and bread and your cooked food will be delivered to your table. Ice cream or sorbet is also included. The full meal price ranges from $9.99 to $13.99 for orders placed before 5 pm, which qualify for the Early Bird discount. After 5 pm, pay $10.99 to $16.99. This is a popular, unique venue and there is often a line-up even for those with reservations, so you will need to be on time. Past participants at this event were very enthusiastic about the excellent food and ambience. Located at 25 Cochrane Drive off Hwy 7, two streets east of Hwy 404, so take the 404 north to Hwy 7 and go right (east) and you'll see the restaurant just past the hotel. Join Ed for dinner/dancing at the elegant Swiss Pick restaurant in the COMFORT HOTEL (formerly the TRAVELODGE) 445 Rexdale Blvd. Excellent choice of Swiss/German food. LIVE BAND with a great lady singer – plus a decent sized, newly resurfaced floor for dancing. Entrees range from $14.95 to $24.95 and beverage prices are very reasonable. NO cover charge other than the $5 UKC levy. Night-club atmosphere. At least smart casual dress recommended (jackets and ties commonly worn by male patrons). June 22 Sun. 6 pm, "15/15" DINNER/MINGLING, SQUIRE & FIRKIN, Bloor/Islington
 Join us at the SQUIRE & FIRKIN for libations and mingling followed by a "15% off" dinner if 15 or more people attend. Arrive early to mingle, chat, drink , enjoy the free snack platters provided from about 6:30 pm to 7:15pm when we sit down for dinner. A minimum food order of $10 is needed but several scrumptious entrees cost under $13. This event is highly recommended for new members. Located at 3335 Bloor St. W. a few steps east of Islington subway. FREE PARKING in the Clarica Centre opposite. Parking entrance on Aberfoyle Court (1 block north of Bloor).
